For the money, these radios are very good. We've been using Motorola radios for years and are very hard on them. The Motorola prices have sky rocketed to the point if I have to replace Bao Fengs every year, I'll be money ahead (Almost $5K to replace 6 Motorola radios that are less than 2 years old.) My only complaint is about the supplied microphones. The volume on the mics are low.....lower than on the radio speaker and it is very hard to hear in our environment. This is not a problem with the Motorola radios we were using.

As described. The radios seem solid and speaker is clear and the volume is outstanding. Have not had them long enough to evaluate the battery life. I do think you need to know if you are going to program them with chirp prepare to spend a long time (such as all afternoon) programing if this is your first time. The directions were very lacking on this and I had to find a You Tube video in order to do the programming and even then downloading the software to program was a tedious process. Because of the lack of instructions I gave it a 4 rating
